Jefferson Park Farm and Flea Offering Urban Homesteading Tour

Saturday, September 10th will be a fun and exciting day to be a lovers of urban farming and farmers markets!

Denver Botanic Gardens and Jefferson Park Farm and Flea, are partnering together to present the11377181_255153647988394_5101792469175947733_n (1) fourth annual Urban Homestead Tour! On this tour you will find many examples of urban gardening – small to large scale – chicken and bee keeping, composting, etc. Most importantly, you will see how the hosting families have integrated these activities into their daily lives with the purpose of leading a more sustainable lifestyle.

There are 10 tour stops spread throughout Denver and Arvada. You will choose where to start and how many stops to visit. Then, join us as we finish the tour at the Jefferson Park Farm and Flea for a panel discussion with the homeowners as well as great offers from local businesses. The cost is only $5, advance tickets available online via the Urban Homestead Tour.

Here is the day’s schedule, Saturday September 10th:

  • 9:00am – 2:00pm: the market itself; Jefferson Park Farm and Flea (W 25th Ave from Federal Blvd to Eliot St)
  • 10am-12:30pm: homes open to participants
  • 1-1:30pm: panel discussion at the Jefferson Park Farm and Flea
  • 1:30pm-market close: homeowner and participant mixer

The Jefferson Park Farm and Flea features approx 60 amazing vendors, food trucks, Colorado-grown produce, education on raising chickens, goats and so much more!

Don’t forget; all participants in the tour and people purchasing tickets will get coupons for special offers at Jefferson Park Pub (2445 Eliot) and The Federal Bar and Grill (2544 Federal Blvd).
